The dance performance “Arrhythmias” pursues the theme of human relationships, embarked in “Moving Targets”, the previous performance of the company. “Moving Targets” was a performance reflecting the instrumental relationships set up in a modern society, whereas “Arrhythmias” is based on a message telling us that one’s life in the society is a burden that every human being should carry himself. On the one hand, we are trying to become free of the restrictions imputed by society, on the other, while learning how to love and to be loved, we have to learn to humble ourselves, to sympathize with another in his sorrow, to engage and to be devoted to another. In this case our life in the society becomes at the same time a curse, a blessing and a salvation.
Vytis Jankauskas Dance Company was founded in 1997. In 2008, the Company was given the status of a professional dance theatre. During 16 years of its development, the company has become a distinctive phenomenon of Contemporary Dance in Lithuania thanks to its purified and expressive performances. The maturity both of the choreographer Vytis Jankauskas and the company was marked by two Golden Stage Cross awards for performances “Drowned Valley” (2003-2004) and “Vigil” (2008-2009).
The performance is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
